Emergency services rushed to Ashton-under-Lyne station this evening, leading to a significant presence in the area.
All train services between Manchester and Stalybridge were halted as police, paramedics, and fire crews responded to an incident.
Authorities reported that a tragic incident involving a casualty on the tracks resulted in a fatality.
British Transport Police confirmed the unfortunate death following reports of the incident at Ashton-under-Lyne railway station.
The police stated, “Officers were alerted around 5 pm today (6 November) regarding a casualty on the tracks at the station. Despite immediate response with paramedics, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. The incident is not deemed suspicious, and a report will be submitted to the coroner.”

National Rail provided an update on train services through a notice on its X page:
#Stalybridge – Disruption between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge expected until 20:00
Service disruptions were noted for Northern routes between Southport, Wigan North Western, and Stalybridge.
TransPennine Express services experienced interruptions between Liverpool Lime Street and Hull, Newcastle, as well as between Manchester Airport and Redcar Central, Saltburn, and Manchester Victoria and Scarborough.
The ongoing disruption is anticipated to continue until at least 8 pm.
National Rail mentioned, “Emergency services are managing an incident between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge, leading to the closure of all lines. Consequently, trains may face cancellations, delays of up to 30 minutes, or route modifications.”
