Lewis Hamilton’s performance in the 2025 Formula 1 season has been a mixed bag, showcasing glimpses of brilliance while struggling for consistency at Ferrari after his high-profile switch from Mercedes.
Beyond the racetrack, Hamilton is known for his strong commitment to environmental and social causes. This dedication led him to sell his custom Pagani Zonda 760 LH, a prized possession tailored to his specifications in 2014. The supercar, boasting a powerful 7.3-liter V12 engine producing 760 horsepower, featured a unique purple design with carbon fiber accents and a rare manual transmission, a personal preference of Hamilton’s.
Despite its impressive features and cost of around £1.6 million, Hamilton was not entirely satisfied with the car, criticizing its handling as “terrible.” By 2021, his increasing environmental awareness prompted him to stop driving his supercars, opting instead for his electric Mercedes EQC.
Due to his shift towards a more eco-friendly lifestyle, Hamilton decided to part ways with the gas-guzzling Zonda, selling it for an astounding £8.5 million, resulting in a substantial profit of £6.9 million. Unfortunately, the car met with an accident in 2023 when its new owner lost control in a tunnel in Wales, causing significant damage that required extensive repairs.
Fortunately, the Zonda has been meticulously restored to its former glory, showcasing Pagani’s craftsmanship and Hamilton’s discerning choices. Despite his off-track endeavors, Hamilton has yet to secure a podium finish for Ferrari in the current season, with his best results being fourth-place finishes at various races.
Currently ranked sixth in the Drivers’ Championship, Hamilton trails the leader by over 150 points. He is also behind his Ferrari teammate and narrowly ahead of a young driver who took his place at Mercedes. Upcoming is the Hungarian Grand Prix, a race Hamilton has won eight times in the past.
