Ozzy Osbourne’s close associate Yungblud collaborated with Aerosmith at the recent MTV Video Music Awards to pay homage to the late rock legend. The performance, featuring a mix of Ozzy’s iconic tracks, included a heartfelt tribute with appearances by members of Osbourne’s family.
Yungblud started the tribute by singing classics like Crazy Train and Changes alongside Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme on guitar. The duo was later joined by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry from Aerosmith to perform Mama, I’m Coming Home at the prestigious event held at New York’s UBS Arena.
Following the performance, Yungblud expressed his admiration for Ozzy by shouting, “Ozzy forever man!” However, not everyone was impressed by the tribute, as rock musician Dan Hawkins of The Darkness criticized it as “another nail in the coffin of rock ‘n’ roll” on Instagram.
The event also captured pop star Ariana Grande’s enthusiastic response to the performance. Before taking the stage, Nuno Bettencourt shared his emotional anticipation for the tribute, acknowledging the significance of honoring Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy.
Aerosmith had previously honored Ozzy after his passing, describing him as a “brother in rock” whose influence on music was profound. Yungblud, also known as Dominic Richard Harrison, shared a poignant tribute on social media following Ozzy’s demise, expressing his deep admiration and gratitude for the rock icon.
The touching tribute at the MTV VMAs, introduced by Ozzy’s son Jack Osbourne and grandchildren, resonated with fans and fellow musicians alike, showcasing the lasting impact of Ozzy Osbourne’s legendary career and his enduring influence on the music industry.
