“Vodafone Introduces Scam Call Protection Amid Rising Phone Scams”

Date:

Dealing with unwanted phone calls has become a common challenge for smartphone users. Recent data reveals that on average, consumers in the UK are bombarded with eight such calls every month. These calls often aim to extract personal information and credit card details for malicious purposes.

To combat this issue and enhance user safety, Vodafone has introduced a new feature called Scam Call Protection. This innovative service leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to detect and alert users about potentially fraudulent, spam, scam, or nuisance calls.

Scam Call Protection operates discreetly in the background, analyzing all incoming calls to users’ phones. When it identifies suspicious activity, customers receive a simple on-screen notification indicating a possible scam call.

According to Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at Vodafone, detecting scam calls has become increasingly challenging, leaving individuals vulnerable. He emphasized that the Scam Call Protection feature on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile offers an additional layer of security by constantly monitoring calls and flagging potential scam calls, reinforcing their commitment to digital security.

The Scam Call Protection enhancement is integrated into Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already includes advanced parental controls, continuous ID monitoring to prevent identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection.

Customers can experience the Scam Call Protection service free of charge for three months as a trial. Subsequently, the service is available for £2 per month.
