Tim Pusey secures his place at the World Darts Championship, potentially causing a dilemma for organizers due to his unconventional nickname. The 31-year-old, known as ‘The Magnet’ during competitions, earned his spot by winning three titles on the ADA Tour and finishing atop the rankings, joining defending champion Luke Littler at Alexandra Palace.
During previous televised appearances in World Series events, Pusey did not use a nickname. However, he may be asked to reconsider his moniker, as seen with World No 80 Owen Bates, who had to change his nickname from ‘The Master’ due to it being deemed inappropriate by the PDC.
Luke Littler, the reigning champion, is set to defend his title at Ally Pally in December. The tournament is scheduled to kick off on December 11 and culminate in the final on January 3. Littler, aiming for more success after his recent victories, expressed his ambition to surpass Phil Taylor’s record of 11 world titles.
Despite falling short in the Premier League this year, Littler bounced back by winning the World Matchplay, defeating James Wade in the final. His determination and skill continue to position him as a formidable player in the darts world.
