Strictly Come Dancing champions Dianne Buswell and Chris McCausland have shed light on an unseen aspect of presenter Claudia Winkleman. The winning pair expressed their thoughts on Claudia and Tess Daly following the announcement of the duo’s departure from the show next year.
Having co-hosted the popular BBC program for over a decade, Claudia and Tess have decided it’s time to hand over the reins. They shared in a joint statement, “Hosting Strictly has been an incredible experience for us. Leaving together feels like the right decision at this juncture.”
Reflecting on the news, Chris, the show’s inaugural blind contestant, shared his perspective on potentially filling the void left by Claudia. During an episode of their Winning Isn’t Everything podcast, Chris noted Claudia’s reserved approach to commentary, highlighting her tendency to avoid expressing personal opinions on camera.
In response, Dianne concurred, adding, “She’s often preoccupied with notes rather than fully watching the performances.” The duo playfully entertained the idea of stepping into the shoes of Claudia and Tess, contemplating how they would bring their unique styles to the show.
With the departure of the beloved hosts, speculation on their replacements has been rife. Names like Bradley Walsh, Holly Willoughby, Alex Jones, and Zoe Ball have emerged as front-runners, with discussions reportedly progressing positively with Bradley and Alex, who are favored contenders for the role.
Prior to the official announcement, Claudia revealed that she and Tess had made a pact to exit the show together, emphasizing their longstanding commitment to each other. Tess, who has been a fixture on the series from its inception, will continue co-hosting alongside Claudia for the current series as the competition heats up.
For fans eagerly anticipating the next episode, Strictly Come Dancing will air tonight at 6.25pm on BBC One.
