A former FBI agent suggested that the individual who shot Charlie Kirk could have strategically chosen a rooftop for a quick escape. The assailant, who is still at large, fired a fatal shot at Kirk’s neck from a building at Utah Valley University. Surveillance footage captured the shooter jumping off the roof of the Losee Center Building, approximately 180 meters away from Kirk’s location. Retired FBI agent James Gagliano noted that the shooter’s positioning allowed for a swift getaway, possibly reaching a nearby highway within minutes.
The FBI disclosed information about the suspected shooter, describing them as college-aged and adept at blending in. Recent video evidence and images released by the FBI mark significant progress in identifying the perpetrator. Gagliano speculated that the shooter could have easily fled to a nearby airport, potentially flying far from the crime scene.
The search continues for the shooter who targeted the conservative activist during a debate event in front of thousands of students. Despite intense efforts by multiple agencies and a $100,000 reward, no suspect is currently in custody. Authorities released high-quality video footage showing the shooter’s escape, urging the public to assist in locating the perpetrator.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox emphasized the importance of public assistance in tracking down the assailant, noting the vast number of tips and interviews conducted by investigators. FBI agent Robert Bohls mentioned potential DNA evidence left by the shooter. Despite these leads, officials remain uncertain about the killer’s whereabouts or potential movements across state lines.
In addition to the video evidence, authorities provided details about a high-caliber rifle believed to have been used in the attack. The firearm was recovered from a wooded area on campus, and investigators are examining possible engravings on the rifle to uncover the shooter’s motives.
