Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden: A Love Story Unfolds

Date:

Saoirse Ronan, aged 31, has garnered widespread acclaim as one of the finest actresses of her generation. She rose to fame in childhood roles in iconic movies such as Atonement and The Lovely Bones, earning her first Academy Award nomination at just 13 for her performance in Atonement. Since then, she has secured three more Oscar nominations for her roles in Brooklyn, Lady Bird, and Little Women.

Despite her involvement in numerous high-profile films over the past decade, Ronan is known for maintaining a low profile when it comes to her personal life and has minimal presence on social media. However, she is recognized for her relationship with a prominent actor who currently stars in a popular streaming series of the 2020s.

Jack Lowden, aged 35, a Scottish actor renowned for his portrayal of MI5 agent River Cartwright in the Apple TV+ series Slow Horses, has been in a relationship with Ronan since 2018. Their connection blossomed while working together on the historical drama Mary Queen of Scots, alongside Margot Robbie.

Lowden’s acting credits include roles in various productions such as the BBC drama series The Gold, where he played war poet Siegfried Sassoon in Benediction and appeared in the action film Tornado. His upcoming projects include playing Mr. Darcy in a Netflix adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, opposite Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet.

In July 2024, reports from The Irish Independent confirmed Ronan and Lowden’s marriage in Edinburgh. Subsequent rumors in May 2025 suggested that the couple was expecting their first child, with Ronan spotted sporting a baby bump in London. Although there was no official confirmation at the time, Ronan later showcased her pregnancy at Paris Fashion Week.

Recent sightings of the couple pushing a stroller indicate they have likely welcomed their first child. The Daily Mail reported a slowdown in the production of Pride and Prejudice due to Lowden’s new fatherhood status, necessitating stand-ins for his character, Mr. Darcy.

The couple has not disclosed the name or gender of their child to the public. Ronan continues to thrive in her film career, with her latest project, Bad Apples, premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film, adapted from the book De Oönskade by Rasmus Andersson, features Ronan as Maria, a British teacher entangled in a tumultuous relationship with a student.

Little is known about Bad Apples at present, as no trailer has been released, but it has garnered positive reviews from the TIFF. Critics have praised the film as a dark comedy that sheds light on the challenges within the education system.

Following Bad Apples, Ronan is set to star alongside Austin Butler in the romance film Deep Cuts, set in the 2000s and produced by A24, with Sean Durkin directing.
