“Pro-Trump Congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene Resigns Amid Rift”

Date:

A politician known for her staunch support of Donald Trump has made a surprising announcement, revealing her decision to resign from Congress. Marjorie Taylor Greene stated in a video that she did not want her district to face a divisive primary election against her, particularly by the former president she had backed. The 51-year-old, previously a close ally of Trump, expressed her refusal to be in a position akin to a “battered wife” in relation to the ex-president.

In her video message, Ms. Greene emphasized her self-respect, love for her family, and desire to spare her district from a contentious primary election orchestrated by the President she once supported. She highlighted concerns about the potential impact on Republicans in the upcoming midterms and her reluctance to defend Trump against impeachment efforts after facing his adversarial campaign tactics.

Ms. Greene, who previously made controversial remarks towards a Sky News journalist, has been a prominent figure within the MAGA movement and a vocal supporter of Trump during his presidency. However, recent disagreements with the former president over various issues, including Jeffrey Epstein, foreign policy, and healthcare, have led to a public rift between them, culminating in her decision to step down from her position.

Despite being labeled a “traitor” and facing opposition from Trump, Ms. Greene confirmed that she would leave office on January 5, 2026. This move aligns her with other establishment Republicans who have clashed with Trump in the past, showcasing a trend of diverging opinions within the party. Meanwhile, Trump’s interactions with other political figures, like Zohran Mamdani, have also drawn attention recently, adding to the scrutiny surrounding his post-presidential activities.
