A couple who were parents to three young children, with the mother expecting a fourth child, were discovered to have discreetly sewn tracking devices into their kids’ toys. The devices, resembling the mother’s phone, were found by the foster carers. Further investigation revealed two more tracking devices hidden in other toys given to the children by their parents.
The parents initially denied any knowledge of the devices and even accused the local authority of planting them. However, the mother later admitted to purchasing the trackers to monitor the children’s whereabouts. Despite her claim that the devices were meant to ensure their safety due to concerns about bruising, the judge questioned the necessity of tracking them for that purpose.
The judge concluded that both parents were involved in the decision to use tracking devices and criticized their attempt to conceal the truth by not cooperating in the investigation. He emphasized the need for the parents to reflect on their actions and consider the impact on their children’s welfare and the ongoing care proceedings.
