Hobbycraft is currently holding clearance sales at six of its stores as part of a strategic business restructuring. The arts and crafts retailer has already closed 12 other locations and recently shut down its Wigan branch. Maidenhead and Chichester stores will permanently close on September 18, followed by Crayford on September 20, King’s Lynn on September 22, and Stafford on September 28.
These stores are offering discounts of up to 70% on remaining stock to clear inventory. The closures are part of a plan by Hobbycraft’s owner, Modella Capital, to ensure the sustainability of 99 stores and 1,800 jobs within the company.
Hobbycraft CEO Alex Wilson expressed optimism about the future, stating that the store closures are necessary for the company’s long-term success. The retailer is focusing on enhancing its online presence and introducing new customer engagement initiatives like Hobbycraft TV to continue inspiring creativity throughout the UK.

The deal involved the closure of 68 Poundland branches, with the company’s store estate expected to eventually decrease to between 650 and 700 locations. Poundland will also shut down its distribution centers in South Yorkshire and the West Midlands by early 2026.
