At least six individuals lost their lives in Turkey following a fire that erupted in a perfume storage facility. Emergency responders rushed to the incident in the Kocaeli province around 9am local time after reports of multiple explosions and a significant blaze.
The governor, İlhami Aktaş, confirmed the death toll and mentioned ongoing medical care for other individuals affected by the incident. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire that tragically claimed the lives of six individuals.
The fire has since been brought under control, as evidenced by images circulated by Turkish media showing firefighters dousing the flames. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased, extending prayers for comfort and peace.
In a social media post, Erdoğan stated, “I offer my condolences to the victims of the fire at a warehouse in the Dilovası district of Kocaeli and pray for their souls. The Ministry of Labor and Social Security, in collaboration with other relevant agencies, has launched investigations into the incident. My sympathies go out to the families and friends of the victims, and I wish a prompt recovery to the injured.”
Mansur Yavaş, the mayor of Ankara, the capital city, also expressed sorrow over the tragic event. He conveyed his condolences and wished swift healing for the injured individuals affected by the fire at the perfume warehouse in Kocaeli.
