Ariana Grande has once again criticized the Trump administration for using her music in a social media post. This time, the Team Trump account featured her song “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” in a TikTok video that tagged the Grammy-winning singer. The post included clips of President Trump speaking at a podium with text referencing Grande’s 2024 hit track. Grande responded in the comments, demanding that her music not be used again and calling the administration’s “truth” false.
This incident follows Grande’s previous objection in mid-June when her song “Bye” was used in a TikTok video about immigration policy, prompting her to denounce the administration’s actions as “barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense.”
Grande joins a long list of artists, including Taylor Swift, ABBA, and others, who have criticized the Trump team for using their music without permission. Some artists have taken legal action, while others have swiftly taken steps to have their music removed from Team Trump social media posts due to copyright concerns.
While political campaigns can obtain licenses to use music legally, individual artists have the right to opt out of such use for various reasons. Despite licensing agreements, artists can still voice objections to the unauthorized use of their music.
