Canadian runner Marco Arop placed fourth in the Diamond League track and field event held at Stade Olympique de la Pontaise in Lausanne, Switzerland. Arop started strong and led the race heading into the final lap but couldn’t maintain his pace, finishing fourth with a time of 1:43.18.
The men’s 800m race was won by Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi in 1:42.19, followed by Djamel Sedjati from Algeria with a season-best time of 1:42.31, and American Brandon Miller finishing third in 1:42.55. Arop, last year’s Diamond League Final participant, was in second place in the current standings behind Wanyonyi, positioning him well for qualification to the upcoming Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium on September 4–5.
In the men’s 200m event, Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo, the reigning Olympic champion, clinched victory with a time of 19.87 seconds. South Africa’s Sinesipho Dambile came in second at 19.98, while Zimbabwe’s Makanakaishe Charamba secured third place with a time of 20.14.
The women’s 200m race saw American athlete Kayla White claiming victory in 22.18 seconds, with Great Britain’s Amy Hunt narrowly beating Nigeria’s Favour Ofili for second place, both recording a time of 22.32 seconds. Unfortunately, Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson, a two-time women’s world champion, had to withdraw from the race due to an injury.
