Davis, who allegedly orchestrated the 1996 murder of the hip-hop star, mentioned that he and Anderson were in a white Cadillac with two others when the shooting occurred in Las Vegas. During the interview with Los Angeles police, Davis recounted the events that led to Shakur’s death, mentioning how the gun passed from him to Deandre “Big Dre” Smith before Anderson started firing at Shakur’s car.
This revelation marked the first time Davis openly discussed his role in the shooting. The recorded interview serves as crucial evidence in the case against the 63-year-old Davis. Prosecutors highlighted Davis’s admissions in police interviews, podcasts, and his co-authored memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” as key elements of their case. Despite previously implicating others like Marion (Suge) Knight and Sean (Diddy) Combs, Davis now faces charges related to his involvement in Shakur’s murder.
Davis, who pleaded not guilty, refuted the prosecution’s claims, with his lawyer dismissing the narrative as “fiction.” The defense argued that authorities lacked evidence to substantiate Davis’s statements. Originally brought in by Los Angeles police to discuss the 1997 shooting of Shakur’s rival, the Notorious B.I.G., Davis was later cleared as a suspect in that case.
