Tributes are flowing in for a cherished individual who was one of the five victims in a tragic car accident in Ireland over the weekend.
Chloe Hipson, 21, hailing from Lanarkshire in Scotland, tragically lost her life along with Chloe McGee, 23, Shay Duffy, 21, Alan McCluskey, 23, and Dylan Commins, 23, in a collision involving their Volkswagen Golf and a Toyota Land Cruiser near Dundalk around 9 pm on Saturday.
Another person in the Golf, also in their twenties, is currently receiving medical care at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The group was en route to Dundalk for a night out, according to the authorities.
Tributes have been pouring in for Chloe, who was from Bellshill. North Motherwell FC announced that they would observe a minute of silence in honor of Chloe, who is the younger sister of their longstanding player Ryan Hipson.
The football club expressed their sorrow on Facebook, extending condolences to Ryan and his family in this challenging time. They highlighted Chloe’s special place in their hearts and announced the gesture of a minute’s silence to honor her memory.
Online messages described Chloe as a “beautiful soul” and “a lovely girl.” The community mourns her loss, with many expressing their shock and sadness over the tragic event.
Two individuals from the other vehicle involved in the accident were also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation is underway, with ongoing inquiries. Garda Superintendent Charlie Armstrong expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragic loss of the five young adults in the collision.
The superintendent acknowledged the professionalism of first responders and emphasized the deep impact of the tragedy on the families and communities involved. He urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist the investigation team at Dundalk Garda Station.
