In a disturbing incident, a 42-year-old woman named Mirrella was found in an emaciated state, close to death, reportedly confined to her room for 27 years by her parents. Mirrella, who was last seen in public as a 15-year-old in 1998 in Świętochłowice, Poland, had never sought dental or hair care during her long isolation.
The shocking revelation occurred in July when authorities responded to a disturbance at an apartment complex in response to neighbor complaints. Despite the landlady’s denial of any altercation, Deputy Inspector Anna Hryniak stated that police intervened after observing Mirrella’s injuries, prompting a call for medical assistance.
Upon examination, it was discovered that Mirrella was on the brink of death due to severe infections, leading to her hospitalization for the past two months. The community has united to support her recovery through a fundraising campaign.
An individual familiar with the situation shared on social media that doctors had determined Mirrella’s critical state, emphasizing the urgency of her medical care. It was believed that Mirrella had left her family home decades ago, but the reality of her situation remained concealed. The circumstances surrounding her prolonged seclusion and absence from public life remain unclear.
Prosecutor Agnieszka Kwatera has initiated an investigation into the case to uncover more details.
