A man who suffered a severe injury in an accident involving a forklift expressed his gratitude towards his wife for her exceptional support. Loren Schauers, who was only 18 years old when the incident occurred, faced a traumatic event that resulted in the lower part of his body being torn from him. Since then, Loren has been on a challenging journey towards recovery as he adjusts to his new life.
Recently, the former laborer took to his Instagram account to publicly appreciate his wife for her significant assistance. He praised his partner for her unwavering support in helping him overcome various challenges. In a post shared on Thursday, he mentioned how she assisted him with technical issues on his computer.
Accompanying the post was a photo showing his wife, Sabia, working on fixing the cables of a computer he had assembled. Loren expressed his gratitude, stating, “Watching my wife finish fixing my computer! I’m so thankful, thank you so much my love,” followed by affectionate emojis. In the caption, he described her as having “superhumanly fixed” the computer and included images of their two cats.
Loren’s life took a drastic turn in September 2019 when he was involved in a construction accident that led to him losing half of his body. Despite the severity of the accident, he managed to survive after being pinned down by a four-ton forklift that fell on him. The impact of the incident left him with life-altering injuries, including the amputation of his lower body.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Loren shared that he was conscious throughout the accident, which caused extensive damage to his pelvis. Despite the challenges he faced, Loren, now 24 years old, has strived to make the most of his life. He is grateful for the unwavering support of his wife, Sabia Reiche, who stood by him during his recovery, even when doctors had doubts about his survival.
Loren recalled the difficult decision to undergo the amputation of his lower body, emphasizing that it was a choice between life and death. With Sabia’s steadfast commitment and the support of his family, he found the strength to make the challenging decision.
