A young man has passed away several weeks after being struck by a coach that rolled backward at Ormskirk Bus Station. The incident occurred on September 25 around 11:45 am, prompting emergency services to respond to reports of a serious crash. Authorities discovered that a single-decker coach had moved in reverse, hitting the man in his 20s, despite no one actively driving the vehicle at the time.
The victim sustained internal and pelvic injuries, as confirmed by Ormskirk and Rural West Lancs Police following the collision. Emergency services were supported by two air ambulances that landed in nearby fields to provide assistance.
An investigation was initiated into the tragic incident, with subsequent findings revealing no criminal wrongdoing. PC Simon Grounds from Lancashire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit expressed sorrow over the loss of the young man and assured that no criminal activity was involved. The case will now be forwarded to HM Coroner for further review.
PC Grounds acknowledged the public’s cooperation during the investigation, emphasizing the importance of community support in such circumstances.
