Tennis Legend McEnroe Suggests Djokovic Retirement

Date:

Tennis icon suggests Novak Djokovic might consider retiring following a loss in the US Open semi-finals to Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic faced defeats in similar stages at Wimbledon and the French Open, and experienced a withdrawal during the Australian Open against Alexander Zverev. Despite winning an Olympic gold last year, Djokovic has not secured a grand slam victory in the past two years, with his last major win being at the 2023 US Open.

At 38 years old, Djokovic aims for his 25th championship to surpass Margaret Court’s record in the Open Era. However, his recent loss at Flushing Meadows has cast doubt on his ability to claim another major title. Former tennis star John McEnroe, who won seven grand slams, speculates that Djokovic may not continue competing beyond this point.

Acknowledging his physical limitations during the match against Alcaraz, Djokovic admitted to running out of energy after the second set. Despite this setback, Djokovic remains determined to compete for top titles, although he recognizes the challenges ahead, particularly against rising stars like Sinner and Alcaraz.

Looking ahead, Djokovic remains committed to his goal of winning more Grand Slams, acknowledging the tough road ahead against formidable opponents. The tennis world awaits to see if Djokovic can overcome these challenges and secure more victories in the future.
