Sky has officially confirmed the upcoming release of its latest Glass Air television in the UK next week, with pricing that may surprise consumers. The new screen, initially announced in February, is set to hit the market on June 10th. It will be available in 43-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch sizes, starting at just £6 per month on contract.
The television features a high-resolution 4K HDR Quantum Dot display, a sleek design with thin bezels, and Dolby audio for enhanced sound quality. Available in Sea Green, Carbon Grey, and Cotton White colors, the TV aims to seamlessly blend into various room aesthetics.
Unlike traditional satellite dishes, the Glass TV operates solely through an internet connection, eliminating the need for external hardware. It offers access to live channels, on-demand content, and popular streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, and Apple TV+. The built-in operating system provides personalized recommendations and a Playlist feature for convenient viewing options.
While the base price of £6 per month is enticing, additional premium channels like Sky Sports or Cinema will incur extra charges. Customers can opt for the Essential TV package at £15 per month, bringing the total monthly cost to £21. The £6 monthly fee applies for 48 months.
For those averse to contracts, upfront payment options are available, starting at £309 for the 43-inch model and going up to £649 for the 65-inch variant. Carli Kerr, MD of Sky TV & NOW, emphasized the goal of providing quality entertainment at an affordable price, stating that Sky Glass Air offers a premium viewing experience for a wide range of consumers.
