All major Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the UK have recently announced price increases set to take effect from April. Among them, Sky, a popular ISP, raised monthly bills by approximately 6 percent. In a surprising turn, Sky has now disclosed another price hike specifically for its NOW platform users, who will see a £3 increase in their bills starting from July 4, 2025.
Affected customers subscribed to plans like Brilliant Broadband, Fab Fibre, and Super Fibre will feel the impact of this change. Responding to the anticipated displeasure from customers, a spokesperson from NOW acknowledged the unwelcome nature of price hikes but justified the adjustment as necessary for service improvement and investment.
To mitigate the impact, NOW is proactively informing customers about the price increase at least 31 days in advance. In a move that sets them apart from competitors, NOW is allowing users to terminate their contracts without penalty within 31 days of being notified about the price hike. This flexibility provides customers with the option to explore alternative providers without the burden of early termination fees.
The rationale behind the price adjustments, according to NOW, stems from the ongoing investments made to enhance their products and services, coupled with the rising cost pressures across various aspects of their operations, such as wholesale expenses and service enhancements.
For consumers, it is advisable to explore different options beyond NOW, including prominent providers like BT, Virgin, and Sky, as well as emerging smaller networks offering competitive speeds at lower rates. Utilizing resources like Ofcom’s postcode checker can assist in identifying ISPs in your area that offer faster speeds while potentially saving you money.
