The incident occurred following the team’s second goal, with the individual tumbling over the railings from the upper concourse and landing 25 rows behind the Penguins’ bench.
According to witnesses, there was initial confusion as onlookers thought the fan was joking, but soon realized the seriousness of the situation as the individual missed steps and fell. The injured person was swiftly taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, as confirmed by the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall. Subsequently, ten seats in Section 234 were cordoned off.
The NHL franchise issued a statement acknowledging the incident, stating that immediate medical attention was provided to the adult male who fell. The Pittsburgh Penguins and OVG Management Group are actively monitoring the situation, expressing concern for the individual and their family.
