“O2 Customers Get Festive Surprise: Free 10GB Data Boost!”

Date:

O2, the renowned UK mobile network now under Virgin Media, is spreading holiday cheer by offering millions of customers an extra 10GB of mobile data for free this December. This additional data boost is a valuable perk, especially during this time when many individuals are more active on their mobile devices.

Eligible users will automatically receive the bonus 10GB added to their monthly data allowance, visible in their account and the MyO2 app at some point in the month. Simply check your settings to confirm the addition of this complimentary data.

The bonus data comes with no usage restrictions, allowing customers to utilize it for various activities like streaming movies, sharing photos, or engaging in video calls on platforms such as FaceTime. O2 states that this giveaway is a gesture of appreciation for being a part of the O2 network.

This offer is applicable to all Pay Monthly customers, excluding those already on Unlimited plans or business tariffs. If you are on a standard monthly plan without unlimited data, you should expect to receive your festive freebie soon.

Christian Hindennach, the Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Media O2, expressed, “This time of year is all about feeling close to the people who matter most, and we want to make that easier than ever. With this 10GB data boost, our customers can enjoy streaming festive films, gaming, or video calling friends and family they can’t be with. It’s our way of spreading a little extra cheer and saying thank you for being on O2.”

According to O2, the additional data could equate to approximately 20 hours of video calls, streaming 2,000 songs, or around four and a half hours of HD Netflix or Disney+ viewing.

This complimentary offer follows the latest Connected Nations report by Ofcom, revealing that UK smartphone users consumed 10% more mobile data in 2025 compared to 2024, totaling a substantial 1.2 billion GB per month.

In essence, this amount of data usage is akin to streaming 400 million HD football matches—an interpretation that may vary depending on individual perspectives.
