“Multiple-Vehicle Crash on M25 Causes Lengthy Delays”

Date:

A multiple-vehicle collision on the M25 caused significant traffic delays earlier today. The incident, involving five cars and a van, led to the closure of one lane on the clockwise carriageway near J11 A320 St Peters Way in Chertsey. Commuters experienced disruption with queues extending back towards J9 in Leatherhead.

According to reports from Inrix, there were long delays and congestion in the area, impacting traffic flow up to a mile before Cobham Services and back towards J9 in Leatherhead, resulting in lengthy queues. However, all lanes on the M25 have since reopened with only minor delays reported just before noon.

Despite the reopening of all lanes, drivers in the affected area are still facing delays as traffic gradually eases. Traffic monitoring service Inrix indicated that drivers were encountering hour-long queues on the route due to the earlier incident.

An earlier closure between J10 in Guildford and J11 in Woking on the M25 clockwise, stemming from a collision, resulted in extensive queues despite the lanes being reopened. National Highways reported delays of at least 75 minutes above normal travel times, advising drivers to allow extra time for their journeys.

A traffic map displayed significant congestion on the M25 near Chertsey following the crash involving five cars and a van. Inrix’s statement highlighted the closure of one lane due to the accident, with congestion stretching to J8 in Reigate and a brief hold at J10 in Wisley for a broken-down vehicle.
