More than a day has passed since the shooting incident that took the life of Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative commentator, in front of a large crowd of Utah Valley University students. The search for a “person of interest” linked to the killing is ongoing.
US law enforcement authorities are actively pursuing multiple leads and have received over 200 tips from the public in their efforts to locate the individual responsible for Charlie Kirk’s murder. The FBI has offered a $100,000 reward for any information leading to the identification and apprehension of the suspect(s) involved.
A photograph of a man wearing a dark T-shirt and a baseball cap was released on Thursday to aid in the search for the person of interest. Despite a delay in a scheduled press conference due to rapidly evolving developments, the Utah police have not yet located the individual captured on campus security cameras. Additional detailed images of the suspect have been released by the Utah Public Safety department.
The suspect, described as college-aged, was observed on campus security footage walking through a stairwell wearing a black long-sleeved T-shirt with an American flag design, blue trousers, and Converse-style shoes. The individual appears to be concealing his identity with a cap, sunglasses, and a full backpack.
Federal agents and local law enforcement are collaborating in the manhunt for the suspect, who managed to elude capture following the tragic incident involving Charlie Kirk, a prominent figure in the MAGA movement.
Following the shooting incident, which occurred from a rooftop approximately 200 meters away from where Kirk was speaking, investigators believe the perpetrator fled the scene. A high-caliber rifle believed to have been used in the shooting was found in nearby woodland along with a footprint, currently undergoing forensic analysis.
Charlie Kirk’s body is being transported back to his family home in Phoenix, Arizona, while US Vice President JD Vance paid tribute to his late friend by personally accompanying his remains on Air Force Two. Kirk and Vance shared a close friendship and political alliance, with the Vice President crediting Kirk for his political accomplishments in a heartfelt tribute.
Vance, accompanied by military personnel, solemnly escorted Kirk’s casket onto the aircraft as a final gesture of respect for his departed friend.
