Prime suspect in the Madeleine McCann case, Christian Brueckner, has suggested a potential relocation destination in a GoFundMe appeal. The convicted rapist sought financial assistance to depart from Germany, managing to collect €100 before the campaign was removed after three hours.
In his plea for funds, Brueckner disclosed his desire to leave Germany and eluded to a country without an extradition agreement with the German authorities. By receiving donations of €50, he aimed to evade potential extradition back to Germany due to political or economic tensions between nations.
Expressing his frustrations on GoFundMe, Brueckner highlighted his wish to depart Germany legally to escape constant suspicion and scrutiny. He hinted at the need for €500, possibly for accommodation in a location unknown to the authorities, to facilitate his relocation.
Although Brueckner’s intended destination remains undisclosed, his attorney previously hinted at the possibility of him seeking refuge in countries like Suriname, which do not have extradition treaties with Germany or the UK. Brueckner, known to speak fluent English and Portuguese, is searching for a jurisdiction where he can live without the fear of extradition.
Having served a sentence for the rape of an elderly woman in Portugal, Brueckner is now subject to wearing an electronic ankle monitor for the next five years. However, the device might not be effective outside the EU, presenting potential challenges in monitoring his movements in non-EU territories.
Discussing Brueckner’s situation, his lawyer suggested that leaving Europe for a country with no extradition agreements could be a viable option, mentioning Suriname as a potential destination. Countries without extradition treaties with Germany or the UK, like the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, and Vietnam, are under consideration for Brueckner’s potential relocation.
While countries such as the Maldives, Montenegro, Indonesia, and Morocco lack extradition treaties with Germany, the exact location where Brueckner might settle remains uncertain.
