Lewis Hamilton has shared the heartbreaking news of his bulldog Roscoe’s passing. The seven-time Formula 1 champion stayed by Roscoe’s side since rushing him to a veterinary clinic on Wednesday due to a rapid health decline. Despite efforts, Roscoe slipped into a coma, prompting Hamilton to express his concerns about his recovery.
On social media, Hamilton updated his followers, stating that Roscoe had caught pneumonia again, struggled to breathe, and had to be sedated at the hospital. Unfortunately, Roscoe’s heart stopped during medical checks, leading to his coma. Hamilton expressed uncertainty about Roscoe’s chances of waking up from this state.
Regrettably, Hamilton later confirmed Roscoe’s passing in a heartfelt post, thanking everyone for their support and love towards his cherished companion. Roscoe, who was around 13 years old, had been a constant presence in Hamilton’s life since 2013, accompanying him to various F1 races, including witnessing Hamilton’s momentous seventh drivers’ title win in Istanbul.
Despite battling pneumonia earlier in the year, Roscoe made a public appearance with Hamilton at the British Grand Prix in July. Hamilton had hoped to bring Roscoe to the Italian Grand Prix but had to miss the event. Roscoe, with a significant following on Instagram, had garnered 1.3 million followers who mourned his passing.
Hamilton opted to stay with Roscoe instead of traveling to Italy for a Pirelli tire test, with reserve driver Zhou Guanyu taking his place.
