“Greta Thunberg’s Aid Mission Boat Attacked, Catches Fire”

Date:

A vessel transporting climate activist Greta Thunberg and over 350 other individuals on an aid mission to Gaza was targeted in an attack, resulting in the boat catching fire. The incident occurred during what the passengers described as a peaceful delivery of supplies to Palestinians in Gaza. The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), responsible for the mission, asserted that the attack, carried out by a drone, would not hinder their commitment to the cause.

The boat reportedly included many individuals who were previously detained with Greta during an earlier failed attempt to reach Gaza. In a separate incident in June, Greta and activists aboard the Madleen vessel were intercepted and taken into custody by Israeli forces in international waters.

A video shared on Instagram by activist Yasemin Acar captured the aftermath of the attack, with the boat ablaze but all passengers unharmed. The vessel, sailing in Tunisian waters, was targeted in what is believed to be an attempt to prevent aid from reaching Gaza.

The GSF later confirmed the attack on the “Family Boat,” a vessel carrying members of the steering committee, stating that it was struck by a suspected drone. Despite the aggression, all passengers and crew were reported safe, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The GSF reiterated their commitment to their peaceful mission to support Gaza and expressed resolve in the face of attempts to disrupt their efforts.
