“Get £25 Payments for Cold Weather: Are You Eligible?”

Date:

During the winter season, you may qualify for payments of £25 under the Cold Weather Payment initiative. These payments have just commenced for the 2025/26 period, offering £25 for each seven-day period where the average temperature in your area drops to zero degrees or below.

If your region experiences multiple stretches of freezing weather throughout the winter, you could receive several Cold Weather Payments. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) administers these payments.

To be eligible for a Cold Weather Payment, you must be receiving specific benefits such as Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, or Income-related Employment and Support Allowance. If you fall under these categories, you should contact Jobcentre Plus to claim your Cold Weather Payment.

The Cold Weather Payment scheme will be active until March 31, 2026. Payments are typically deposited directly into your bank account within 14 working days if you are entitled to receive them. Most individuals will automatically receive their payments without needing to apply, except for those with infants or children under five moving in with them.

To check if you are eligible for a Cold Weather Payment in your area, you can use a postcode checker on the GOV.UK website. It’s important to note that Cold Weather Payments are not available in Scotland. Instead, they are substituted by the Winter Heating Payment, which amounts to £59.75.
