Talya Honebeek, a content editor for Spare Time contributing to various publications like the Express, the Mirror, and the Daily Record, shared her story of exploring the coffee world. Despite never being a hot drinks person and usually opting for water or fizzy drinks, Talya decided to give coffee a proper try to broaden her horizons.
She embarked on her coffee journey by trying a flat white, recommended by her coffee-loving friends and colleagues. Visiting a local café at Dunelm, she ordered her first coffee, accompanied by a glass of water. However, her experience with the flat white was less than satisfying, as she found the bitterness overwhelming even after adding sugar.
Undeterred, Talya then sampled a cappuccino but found it equally unpalatable. Despite not enjoying the taste of coffee, she noted the temporary boost of energy and alertness it provided. Intrigued to explore further, she visited a local independent coffee shop the next day and opted for a mocha, hoping the addition of chocolate would make the coffee more enjoyable.
To her surprise, Talya found the mocha delightful, enjoying the combination of coffee and chocolate. Excited by this newfound appreciation, she looks forward to ordering coffee on future outings, although she may steer clear of flat whites for now. Perhaps an iced frappuccino will be her next coffee adventure.
