Pankiw shared a screenshot of a text conversation on Instagram where she firmly rejected the opportunity to work on the HBO show. Emphasizing her stance against funding transphobic beliefs, Pankiw expressed how straightforward it was for her to decline the offer. She clarified that the refusal was for a directing role, not acting.
Having directed episodes of Black Mirror and the entire first season of Feel Good, as well as the film I Used to be Funny, Pankiw, aged 39, has an established background in the industry. The date of the text exchange was noted as April 21, although no details were provided on the recipient of Pankiw’s message.
The new Harry Potter series, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is scheduled for release on HBO Max on December 25, 2026. Based on J.K.
