In the ongoing search for the individual responsible for the death of conservative figure Charlie Kirk, the FBI has unveiled a new video showcasing the moments immediately following the fatal shooting. During a press briefing held on Thursday evening, FBI officials presented the video footage, shedding light on the movements of the assailant after firing the fatal shot at 31-year-old Kirk during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University.
The video captures a dark figure swiftly moving across the rooftop of a campus building near the incident site, moments after rising from a prone position. FBI agent Robert Bohls narrated the video, detailing the figure’s actions as he made his escape by running behind the building, descending from the edge, and dropping to the ground.
Following his descent, the figure, resembling the previously released images of the sought-after “person of interest,” was seen crouching before swiftly departing towards the right side of the video. Agent Bohls highlighted that the location where the figure landed is a crucial focal point of the investigation, with potential DNA evidence left behind.
Bohls emphasized the significance of identifying the suspect’s distinct attire, including a black T-shirt featuring an American flag and eagle, Converse sneakers, and a baseball cap with a triangle logo. Additionally, officials disclosed that a wooded area where a rifle with a long-range scope was discovered is in close proximity to where Kirk was fatally shot on the university campus.
Prior to the press conference, law enforcement authorities released four new images of the individual being sought in connection with the shooting, captured moving through a stairwell with his face averted from security cameras. Utah Governor Spencer Cox stressed the importance of public assistance in tracking down the perpetrator, describing the individual as an “evil human being.”
Cox provided an update on the extensive investigative efforts, noting over 7000 tips received and more than 200 interviews conducted in the pursuit of justice for Kirk. He confirmed the intent to pursue the death penalty for Kirk’s killer, underscoring the gravity of the crime.
Despite the progress in the investigation, the suspect’s identity and whereabouts remain unknown, with officials expressing uncertainty regarding the individual’s current location and potential movements across state lines. The search continues, with investigators exploring leads from various sources and encouraging public cooperation in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
