“FBI Identifies Suspect in Shooting of MAGA Supporter”

Date:

The FBI has unveiled a photo of Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old individual accused of fatally shooting Charlie Kirk, a supporter of the MAGA movement, in the neck during a speech at a university event in Utah.

During a press briefing held today by the FBI and authorities, Robinson was confirmed as the prime suspect in the shooting. He has since been apprehended in Utah after allegedly confessing his crime to a family member, who then informed a family friend that subsequently contacted law enforcement.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox, addressing the media during the press conference, greeted the audience and declared, “We have apprehended him.”

Governor Cox revealed that Robinson purportedly admitted or hinted at being the shooter, following remarks by former President Donald Trump on Fox News asserting that authorities were highly certain of the suspect in custody being the alleged assailant.

Trump mentioned that a close acquaintance of the suspect, described as a “person of faith, a minister,” convinced the suspect’s father, who then persuaded his son to surrender. The suspect’s father allegedly urged him to turn himself in, leading to his surrender at a police station.

The victim, Charlie Kirk, known for his conservative activism, was shot in the neck during a public debate at Utah Valley University. The shot was fired from a building approximately 142 yards away, as per the university’s account.

By reviewing footage, investigators identified Robinson arriving in a Dodge Challenger at around 8:29 am on September 10, according to Governor Cox.

When confronted by investigators on September 12, Robinson was dressed identically to the person in the footage, sporting a plain maroon t-shirt, light-colored shorts, a black hat with a white logo, and light-colored shoes, as stated by Cox.

According to Cox, Robinson’s family informed investigators that he had become increasingly involved in politics lately. Authorities found inscriptions on the bullet casings from a bolt-action rifle with a scope mount.

Governor Cox highlighted a message engraved on one of the bullet casings inside the rifle, leaving the interpretation to the observers. He mentioned the phrase “catch fascists” engraved on the casing, implying a clear message.

Family videos on social media depict Robinson enjoying a fishing trip with his relatives and receiving an acceptance letter from a university, shared by his mother.

Originating from Washington, Utah, about 260 miles south of the shooting location in Orem, where Kirk was attacked, Robinson’s motive for the shooting remains undisclosed.
