EE has recently enhanced its Scam Guard service to combat the increasing number of scams targeting mobile users in the UK. This upgraded version, available for £2 a month to all EE pay-monthly mobile customers, aims to provide improved protection against cyber threats.
Since its initial launch in 2024, Scam Guard has already thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the new update, EE anticipates doubling the prevention of scams over the next year. The centerpiece of the upgraded Scam Guard is the AI Triple-Lock Protection, consisting of three digital safety features powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine.
The features of the enhanced Scam Guard include Safe Email, offering proactive scam protection for email inboxes, Safe SMS utilizing advanced AI to detect sophisticated scams in text messages, and Safe Web using AI to block malicious sites during online activities. Additionally, the upgrade introduces Scam Assistant, enabling users to receive instant advice on the safety of various online content types, and Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring to identify suspicious activities across the user’s online presence.
Malcolm Cubitt, Director of Product, Mobile, EE, emphasized the importance of adapting to evolving fraud threats in the UK and highlighted EE’s commitment to enhancing cyber security measures for its customers. He mentioned the continuous investment in network-level controls, industry alliances, and a dedicated security team. The enhanced Scam Guard service is another step towards providing customers with advanced protection against cyber threats.
