“Crackdown on Illegal Employment Ramps Up Nationally”

Date:

Illegal employment only benefits criminals profiting from exploiting vulnerable individuals, harming legitimate businesses and fostering organized immigration crime. To combat this, proactive measures are being implemented to close loopholes used by illegal workers.

Efforts include enhanced data sharing and collaboration with major delivery platforms like Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Just Eat to prevent unauthorized account sharing. By leveraging this data-matching approach, swift actions can be taken to identify and remove individuals violating immigration regulations.

These initiatives are part of a broader strategy outlined in the Plan for Change, which has already led to a 50% increase in enforcement activities across the nation, resulting in over 7,000 arrests and the deportation of 35,000 individuals without legal residency in the UK since the current administration took office.

Recent actions have targeted 25 individuals involved in people-smuggling networks, including suppliers and gang leaders. Additionally, upcoming legislation such as the Borders Bill will expand right-to-work verifications to the gig economy, enabling stronger enforcement against non-compliant employers and enhancing border security with new anti-illegal activity measures.

Maintaining a functional and fair immigration system is paramount, and individuals found abusing support systems through deception will face consequences, ensuring public expectations are met.

The commitment to a robust immigration system remains steadfast, with a determination to deliver on promises made to the public.
