Coronation Street and Grantchester star Melissa Johns has shared with The Mirror that she has given birth to her first child, a daughter whom she adores. Melissa, aged 35, welcomed her baby with her husband, Dan Hampton, a year after their wedding in Hertfordshire.
The actress, best known for portraying Imogen Pascoe, offered a peek into her newfound world with her baby girl as they embark on this exciting journey. She posted a heartfelt image of them strolling down a hospital corridor with their little one snug in a car seat, along with another picture of a bassinet featuring tiny feet peeking out.
In a touching message, Melissa expressed, “Our baby girl is here. We can’t take our eyes off you,” accompanying the post with the song “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli.
Speaking to The Mirror, the glowing new mother shared, “I thought I’d experienced a range of emotions by now, but nothing compares to this. The love, the magic, the ups and downs of hormones. It’s a whirlwind, and one I’m incredibly thankful to be a part of.”
Melissa, who was born with one arm, added, “I feel fortunate to have Dan by my side through this journey. He has been our rock for nine months and continues to be. He truly is my right-hand man.”
Earlier, Melissa had opened up about her pregnancy, expressing how empowered and limitless she felt while carrying her daughter. She stated, “It’s empowering for me. I’ve never seen people with physical differences like mine in maternity photoshoots, and I’ve often been told that my body has limitations.”
She continued, “Growing and nurturing a baby makes me feel limitless. Despite growing up with restrictions imposed on me, the experience of having a child has been liberating.”
The disability advocate announced her pregnancy online in June, sharing a picture taken on the beach with her husband, Dan. Before giving birth, she reflected on the added pressure felt by first-time mothers and her unique considerations, emphasizing her determination to find solutions to any challenges that may arise.
