“James Bulger’s Killer Fears Parole Hearing Confrontation”

Date:

Jon Venables, the convicted killer of James Bulger, is reportedly expressing fear about attending his upcoming parole hearing if the family of his victim is present. Venables, who was involved in the abduction and murder of two-year-old James in 1993, is seeking parole but is apprehensive about facing the victim’s family during the hearing.

Having been released from prison in 2001, Venables was later incarcerated again in 2010 and 2017 for offenses related to child abuse images. Despite his attempts to secure parole, his requests have been denied in the past due to concerns about his risk to society and lack of transparency with probation authorities.

A source revealed that Venables is adamant about avoiding the parole hearing if James’ parents, Denise Fergus and Ralph Bulger, are in attendance. The source emphasized that Venables’ absence could negatively impact his chances of being released from prison.

Denise Fergus, in an exclusive interview with The Mirror, expressed her desire to confront her son’s killer at the parole hearing, stating that the ongoing ordeal is emotionally distressing for her. She questioned the basis for Venables’ parole application, highlighting his history of reoffending and the impact on the victims’ families.

Venables and his accomplice, Robert Thompson, committed the heinous crime of abducting and killing James in Merseyside, leading to their life sentences in 1993. Despite being released in 2001 after serving time in youth custody, Venables’ repeated involvement in criminal activities, including possession of child abuse images, has led to his recall to prison on multiple occasions.

The former Justice Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, has reportedly expressed opposition to Venables’ release, echoing the sentiments of James’ parents who are determined to seek justice for their son.
