Campbell Hatton Reflects on Father’s Legacy

Campbell Hatton recently shared reflections on his father, Ricky Hatton’s impact on his life, following a provisional confirmation of his cause of death. During an interview on Good Morning Britain, 24-year-old Campbell expressed, “It’s been a tumultuous few weeks.” He mentioned the emotional journey leading up to his father’s funeral, highlighting the overwhelming display of love from supporters. Campbell described the experience as a mix of emotions but emphasized the family’s focus on taking each day as it comes.

Reflecting on his father’s legacy, Campbell recalled Ricky’s pride in his fanbase over his boxing achievements. He acknowledged the immense love people had for his father, evident in the vast number of supporters who followed Ricky globally to watch him fight. Campbell found solace in witnessing the outpouring of support during the funeral procession, emphasizing the surreal experience of seeing streets filled with people paying their respects to Ricky.

Ricky Hatton was laid to rest at Manchester Cathedral on October 12, with a procession passing significant landmarks in the city, including Cheshire Cheese, Harehill Tavern, and the AO Arena. Following a private memorial service and a gathering at the Etihad Stadium, an inquest chaired by Senior Coroner Alison Mutch revealed that Ricky was found ‘unresponsive’ at his home, with a provisional cause of death identified as hanging. The full inquest is scheduled for March 20, 2026.

Paul Speak, who discovered Ricky at his home, expressed a desire to reveal the truth surrounding the circumstances of his death, emphasizing that Ricky was in a positive place before his passing. Speak recounted the moments leading up to finding Ricky unresponsive and stressed his belief that Ricky did not intend to take his own life. Speak aimed to dispel any speculations surrounding Ricky’s death and emphasized the positive plans Ricky had for the future.

Campbell also opened up about the profound loss of his father, describing the deep bond they shared. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received during this challenging time. Campbell fondly remembered his father as more than just a boxing legend, emphasizing the personal connection they had and the difficulty in coming to terms with his sudden passing.
