British Superbike rider Callum Grigor has been placed in an induced coma after a harrowing crash at Donington Park. The 27-year-old athlete from Wishaw, Scotland, is currently in a “serious” state.
The incident occurred during the Pirelli National Superstock Championship race on Saturday when Grigor was ejected from his bike at Goddards Corner and collided with fellow rider Nathan Harrison. Immediate medical attention was provided on the scene, and Grigor was then put into a medically induced coma and swiftly transported to the hospital.
According to a statement from British Superbike, the crash happened on the opening lap of the race at Donington Park circuit. Both Grigor and Harrison were promptly attended to by the BSB Medical Team. Grigor’s condition was deemed serious, necessitating urgent trackside intervention, including the induced coma.
Harrison, on the other hand, was treated at the Leicestershire circuit’s medical center for an injury to a limb before being transferred to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for further evaluation and care.
