Apple has introduced a new Self Service Repair option for iPad users, allowing them to fix their devices at home. This initiative aims to extend the lifespan of products by enabling consumers to replace parts like displays, batteries, cameras, and charging ports themselves. Brian Naumann, Apple’s vice president of AppleCare, emphasized the company’s commitment to creating long-lasting products while ensuring safety and privacy. The Self Service Repair program now includes iPad models such as Pad Air (M2 and later), iPad Pro (M4), iPad mini (A17 Pro), and iPad (A16). This expansion follows the inclusion of 65 Apple products in the self-repair program, including the iPhone 16e, MacBook Air, and Mac Studio. Apple has also broadened its repair network by providing genuine parts, tools, and training to more service locations. Repair options now encompass Apple Store locations, Apple Authorised Service Providers, Independent Repair Providers, mail-in repair centers, Self-Service Repair, and the Genuine Parts Distributor program. The iPad Self Service Repair update will be available starting May 29 in the UK and Europe.
