Owners of Samsung Galaxy Book laptops are facing serious issues following a recent Windows 11 update from Microsoft. The update has led to crucial problems, locking users out of their C drive with an error message stating “C: is not accessible – Access denied.”
This access restriction has prevented users from opening files and running certain applications like Microsoft Outlook, Office apps, and select web browsers. The affected model numbers include NP750XGJ, NP750XGL, NP754XGJ, NP754XFG, NP754XGK, DM500SGA, DM500TDA, DM500TGA, and DM501SGA.
Microsoft has acknowledged the issue, confirming that some Samsung devices are losing access to the C drive after installing the February 2026 security update (KB5077181) and subsequent updates. Users may encounter the access denial error when trying to access files or launch applications, including Outlook, Office apps, web browsers, system utilities, and Quick Assist.
The problem is believed to be linked to the Samsung Galaxy Connect app, which facilitates screen mirroring, file sharing, and data transfer between Galaxy smartphones and Windows PCs. The app has been temporarily removed from the Windows app store while a solution is being developed.
Microsoft stated that Samsung has re-released a stable previous version of the app to prevent further installations and is working with Microsoft to address impacted devices. Recovery options for affected devices are limited at this time.
While a fix timeline remains uncertain, Samsung PC owners are advised to hold off on updating to Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. Users currently on these versions are recommended to refrain from updating further until the issue is resolved.
