“Attractive Man’s Communication Woes: Dear Coleen’s Advice”

Date:

Dear Coleen

I am a woman in my forties, and I have been dating a very attractive man for a few weeks now. He is tall, dark, and charming, with a fun and unique personality.

Although things started well, I am facing challenges with his communication style. He often leaves my messages unread for days and avoids phone conversations.

While I tried to accept his behavior as his norm, his lack of communication is causing me insecurity and doubts about our relationship status.

I feel neglected and anxious, constantly checking my phone for his messages, which is unhealthy.

When I confronted him, he dismissed my concerns by labeling me as the odd one, claiming he communicates differently and is not as attached to his phone as I am.

Navigating a relationship in this manner is challenging. While our time together is enjoyable, the lack of communication in between leaves me feeling unsettled. I feel too mature to tolerate this uncertainty.

Coleen advises

Past experiences have taught me that such situations can lead to self-doubt and paranoia.

Questioning oneself and seeking constant validation only push the avoidant person further away. This behavior may stem from past issues that prevent emotional closeness, leading to sporadic contact and emotional turmoil.

While occasional gestures may provide temporary relief, the overall impact is detrimental. If someone truly values you, they will not subject you to such uncertainty. It is essential to prioritize self-respect and move on from such situations.

Despite initial attraction, it is crucial to consider long-term compatibility and respect in a relationship. Upholding self-worth is key to avoiding heartache and disappointment.
