Novak Djokovic recently expressed his admiration for Jannik Sinner, noting similarities between them in their playing styles. Djokovic’s comments came after some fans speculated about tensions between the two tennis stars following remarks made by Djokovic in a social media quiz.
Speaking at the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, praised the 24-year-old Italian, emphasizing his high regard for Sinner’s skills.
When asked which player he sees himself in, Djokovic pointed to Sinner, highlighting their shared approach of hitting the ball hard and moving effectively on the court. He noted their similar physique and strategic gameplay, describing Sinner as an all-around player who excels in every aspect of the game.
Djokovic’s positive remarks about the potential 2025 Wimbledon champion come in response to past speculations that he had shown disrespect towards Sinner. Djokovic clarified that his previous comment about Sinner and skiing was merely a spontaneous response in a quiz-style interview and not meant to belittle Sinner’s tennis achievements.
Looking ahead to their upcoming match at the Six Kings Slam exhibition, Sinner, the reigning champion, will face Djokovic after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas. Sinner has secured victories in their recent encounters, including a win in the Wimbledon semi-final, with Djokovic’s last triumph over Sinner dating back to 2023.
