Kylie Minogue Shines at Earthshot Prize Event

Date:

Pint-sized music sensation Kylie Minogue shined brightly during her encounter with Prince William in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the star-studded Earthshot Prize event. The 57-year-old singer, who is in the running for the Christmas Number One spot with her latest track XMAS, joined a lineup of celebrities to support the Prince’s initiative aimed at fostering innovative solutions for global environmental challenges.

Dressed in a striking beige tulle mini-dress adorned with cream leather cut-outs and gold heels, Kylie exuded radiance as she graced the red carpet before meeting the royal figure. Her presence in Rio follows her performance in São Paulo as part of her Tension tour, marking her return to the Latin American country after 17 years.

Prince William, a dedicated advocate for climate issues like his father King Charles, established the prestigious Earthshot Prize in 2020 to spur the development of groundbreaking technologies combating climate change. The event, where Prince William sported a recycled Tom Ford tuxedo, showcased a vibrant atmosphere with cheers, Samba music, and Carnival dancers welcoming the attendees.

The Earthshot Prize features five finalists competing for £1 million prizes in different categories to support the implementation of their innovative ideas. The event also highlighted a trailer introducing the 15 finalists, narrated by actor Matthew McConaughey, with Prince William expressing his pride in their contributions.

During the ceremony, Kylie performed live alongside singer Shawn Mendes, emphasizing the significance of collective action to address environmental challenges. The star-studded event, hosted by Brazilian broadcaster Luciano Huck, featured notable presenters such as sports icons Cafu and Sebastian Vettel, underscoring the global importance of environmental conservation efforts.

Notably, Earthshot achieved a milestone in 2025 by raising a record £24 million in donations, with substantial contributions including £5 million from The American Friends of the Royal Foundation. The event’s location in Brazil this year follows the previous year’s awards ceremony held in an eco-dome in Cape Town, South Africa, demonstrating a commitment to global outreach and environmental advocacy.
