“Freely Emerges as UK’s Newest Streaming Contender”

Date:

When it comes to television entertainment, Freeview and Sky stand out as top choices for viewers in the UK. Freeview provides free-to-watch content, while Sky offers premium channels and exclusive sports coverage not found on regular TV services.

A new player in the market, Freely, is gaining attention for its innovative approach. Instead of traditional aerials or satellite dishes, Freely uses broadband connections to deliver content to TVs, similar to Sky’s Glass TVs powered by the internet.

Freely is integrated into many new television models, eliminating the need for separate set-top boxes or dongles.

Recently, Channel 4 announced the launch of three new streaming channels exclusively on Freely – 4Reality, 4Homes, and 4Life. These channels mark Channel 4’s debut in the UK streaming landscape.

Viewers can access 4Reality on channel 67, 4Homes on channel 68, and 4Life on channel 82.

With the rise of streaming services, Freely could potentially challenge Freeview in the future as more consumers transition from traditional TV to online streaming. Notably, Freely is owned by Everyone TV, the same group behind Freeview.

Grace Boswood, Channel 4’s Director of Technology & Distribution, expressed pride in enhancing Freely’s offerings, marking Channel 4’s evolution into a prominent public service streamer.

Jonathan Thompson, CEO of Everyone TV, highlighted the addition of high-quality streamed content in collaboration with Channel 4. Freely offers a diverse range of shows without the need for costly subscriptions, now featuring exclusive channels like 4Reality, 4Homes, and 4Life from Channel 4.

The new channels offer a variety of content, including reality TV favorites on 4Reality, home and property shows on 4Homes, and lifestyle programming on 4Life featuring travel, food, and animals.

By introducing these new channels, Channel 4 and Freely aim to provide unique and engaging content to viewers, expanding the streaming experience in the UK.
