I am troubled by my husband’s frequent outbursts of anger, and I fear that divorce may be the only solution. While he is not physically violent, his verbal aggression and quick temper are becoming unbearable. His anger is often directed towards strangers, like road users, neighbors, shop assistants, waiters, and bank clerks, creating a tense atmosphere around him. This behavior has escalated as he has aged, affecting our social life and causing discomfort to those around him. I am hesitant to confront him about his anger issues, fearing his reaction. Any advice on how to handle this situation would be appreciated.

As we age, we tend to become more set in our ways, but this should not excuse unreasonable behavior. Anger often stems from underlying emotions such as fear or anxiety. It is crucial for your husband to reflect on the root cause of his anger and its impact on his well-being and relationships. Have an open conversation with him about seeking help, whether through counseling, anger management programs, or online resources. Encourage him to acknowledge the toll his anger is taking on his physical and mental health, as well as his connections with loved ones. While you can support him in finding solutions, ultimately, he must be willing to address his issues. If he refuses to take action, consider what is best for your own well-being.
