Canada concluded the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series in impressive fashion by triumphing over Japan with a score of 20-10 in the final match held in Takasaki. This victory marked their second title of the season, following their earlier success in Shanghai back in May.
The Canadian team, seeded at the top, displayed dominance throughout the tournament, effortlessly progressing through Pool A and securing victories against China (21-9) in the quarterfinals and Neftchi SOCAR (22-12) in the semifinals. Noteworthy performances included Paige Crozon’s 11 points and eight rebounds against China and Merissah Russell’s contribution of eight points in the semifinal match.
In the final showdown, Canada seized an early lead and maintained their advantage until the end, despite Japan’s late attempt at a comeback. The Canadians secured a convincing 20-10 win, clinching the Takasaki title.
Merissah Russell was honored with the Takasaki MVP title for her outstanding performance throughout the tournament, leading in player value (45.3) and drives (12), while ranking second in total points (32) and highlights (17).
Although Canada’s successful campaign in the Women’s Series concludes on a high note, they will not progress to the Project Redwings Shanghai Final scheduled for September.
