Three-time Olympian Michelle Plouffe has decided to end her retirement and rejoin Canada’s four-member lineup for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series event in Bangkok, Thailand. Plouffe, who is 33 years old, will team up with her twin sister Katherine Plouffe, Cassandra Brown, and Paige Crozon for the upcoming competition starting this Saturday.
Currently ranked 10th in the women’s series standings, Canada is aiming to secure a spot in the women’s series final in Shanghai on September 5-6. The top seven teams, along with host China, will advance to the final, making the Bangkok tournament a crucial opportunity for Canada to earn vital qualification points.
Steve Baur, the vice-president and general manager of Canada Basketball’s women’s high performance program, expressed confidence in Plouffe’s return, stating that adding her to the team at this juncture of the season makes strategic sense. Plouffe, who retired on July 28, 2025, to take on the role of Canada Basketball’s 3×3 performance manager, brings a wealth of experience to the team, having led Canada to victories in multiple FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series events and achieving notable success in international competitions.
With Plouffe’s return, Canada aims to strengthen its lineup and make a competitive push towards Shanghai, while providing her with the opportunity to reignite her passion for competing on the court.
