Danish PM Frederiksen Slams Unsolicited Beauty Advice

Date:

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed her frustration with receiving unsolicited beauty advice. Frederiksen, aged 48, took to Instagram after returning from Ukraine, where she encountered air raid sirens due to the ongoing conflict. She shared that she has received numerous messages critiquing her appearance over the years, including comments about her teeth, hair, and a perceived flaw on her nose, along with suggestions for Botox.

Frederiksen shared a screenshot of a plastic surgeon’s offer without revealing the individual’s identity and responded by affirming her contentment with her body, stating, “I’m happy with my body — I really don’t need a male plastic surgeon to have an opinion about it.”

As a Social Democrat and Denmark’s second female prime minister currently serving her third term, Frederiksen is one of Europe’s longest-tenured leaders. She has been a staunch critic of U.S. President Donald Trump’s interests in Greenland and has stood by Ukraine against Russian aggression.

In her Instagram post, Frederiksen emphasized that she respects others’ appearances and highlighted her acceptance of her body as she nears 50. She urged people to engage in conversations of substance rather than focusing on superficial matters like her nose.

The prime minister revealed that the unsolicited beauty advice left her feeling indignant and sent a message of empathy to others dealing with societal pressures. She encouraged meaningful discussions and shared love for those embracing their “perfect imperfections.”

The article includes a video featuring Quebec Liberal MNA Jennifer Maccarone addressing menopause openly during a parliamentary meeting. Maccarone advocated for breaking taboos around menopause, encouraging more candid conversations on the topic.
